What is Mean Stack? A Complete Overview of Mean Stack

What is Mean Stack?

Mean Stack is a set of four popular and highly effective Javascript libraries–Mongo DB, Express.js, Angular JS and Node.js. (In short M for Mongo, E for Express, A for Angular and N for Node). The quartet amazingly works together to deliver results with fewer overheads and high performance. MEAN Stack allows developers to drop the established LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) environment.

As all the Mean Stacks components are Javascript library products, it’s no wonder to anyone that they integrate well. Mongo DB is used to store documents in the JSON format, and these JSON queries are managed easily by Express JS and Node.js on the server side. On the frontend, Angular JS  feeds these JSON documents with a minimal chance of any obstructions or errors. The integration between these documents becomes easy and seamless due to the same language on both the client side and the server side. An added advantage of MEAN Stack is that it is easy enough to learn, thanks to several online MEAN Stack certification courses available out there in the market. Given its accessibility, more and more people not only learn the language but also demand it.

Mean Stack architecture

MongoDB:

It does not include any SQL. To represent data, MongoDB uses JSON style documents so that you can use a single language across the programming journey. The MEAN stack provides an effective database layer in MongoDB. This modern database is accommodated with automatic sharding and full cluster support. As you plug in MongoDB, it will spread across your cluster of servers to provide failover support and automatic replication.

EXPRESS.JS:

It is an HTTP server framework.  Express.js is particularly used for website applications and offers a complete list of modules and components, which allow working on various common tasks on the website. Express.js and Node.js provide JavaScript with a back-end functionality — helping developers create software with JavaScript on the server side for the first time.

ANGULAR.JS:

Google maintains this programming language and it is used to create single page applications with the MVC architecture. Angular.js is typically a front-end JS framework, and developers use it to create some different complex client-side applications.

NODE.JS:

Node.js is used to create highly scalable and effective web applications and is known to be a concurrent JavaScript environment. Great for most real-time applications, this language is fast and lightweight. Developers are able to set various benchmarks in the web world due to the high performance of Node.js.

Advantages of MEAN Stack

Let’s evaluate the important reasons that contribute to the belief that MEAN stack is one of the best JavaScript frameworks:

  1. MEAN Stack is budget-friendly

The prominent reason why MEAN stack tops the list of both the client and developer is due to its budget-friendly feature. Clients do not need to look for different developers for various projects as this framework takes care of it all.  Developers trained in MEAN Stack have it easier than others because programming the front and back end depends on them. Ever since it became popular, many aspiring developers are accepting it with ease. You get an opportunity to work as an effective team where all JavaScript developers are working on a project collaboratively. Moreover, developers can share codes with each other, which can be reused within the stack.

  1. Complete Dependence on JavaScript

What leads to the popularity of MEAN Stack its dependence on the JavaScript framework. This makes it advantageous for the client and the server side alike. Moreover, it operates over both Windows and Linux OS. Due to the presence of JavaScript, it provides great user experience and also helps in managing the data the right way.

JavaScript plays a vital role in the data recovery, and if you use the MEAN Stack, then this process speeds up. It is a robust and reliable framework that permits developers to create the effective web applications. Node.js and Angular.js  deliver a better scope to make dynamic and scalable web applications. So the traffic chances increase rapidly.

  1. Extremely flexible

MEAN helps developers test an application on the cloud after the completion of a development process. Applications become easy to develop, test and introduce in the cloud. You can even add extra information simply by integrating the field to your form. MongoDB, is particularly designed for the cloud, offers automatic replication and full cluster support.

  1. MEAN uses JSON

JavaScript Object Notation is used in NodeJS and AngularJS. The MongoDB relational database is a completely component-based and offers users the option to save documents in the JSON format.  It is limited to SMBs. Usually, developers prefer MEAN stack during different stages of applications and web development.

The MEAN stack has gained extreme popularity in the past few years, possessing a huge developer community with various full-scale applications already developed on the platform. Stacks are selected because the technologies are efficient to work and are usually most of what a developer requires to develop a fully functional application.
