1999 – eMachines launch eOne
In the United States, eMachines introduces the eOne personal computer. The eOne is designed for the market for those who desire a Apple iMac but at a lower price. The machine features a 433MHz Celeron processor, a built-in fifteen inch monitor, speakers, a 1.44MB floppy disk drive, a CD-ROM drive with two USB ports and an Ethernet jack and a modem. The eOne goes on the market priced between $799 – $849.
2009 – Google Acquires a Public Company
Google announces that the company has made it’s first acquisition of a public company. Google buys video compression technology developer On2 Technologies, for $106.5 million.
