UK Citizens Will Have Legal Right to Broadband in 2018

A security researcher who came across a bug and reported it to Uber as part of their Bug bounty programme has written about how he was not rewarded by Uber. Uber have stated that the bug was already known and led to some hackers taking sides on the issue. Read More here
Apple Secretly Slowing Down Older Models
“Once the phone is shut down, the battery is in a state where the only way to get the phone back online is to plug it into a charger. If you’re out with your phone on the go, that’s clearly not a great situation to be in”
John Poole, founder of Primate Labs comments on his work that found that Apple seemed to be slowing down older models of iPhones to extend battery life. Apple have admitted it this week. Read More here
Largest Payout for Government Bug Bounty Programme
“There’s such a perception of the government being closed off and ready to sweep issues under the rug. It was great seeing how excited they were to work with us.”
Security researchers Brett Buerhaus and Mathias Karlsson uncovered a bug that allowed them to get access to the Air Force unclassified network. The success of the programme meant that the pair were awarded the top prize of $10,000 for their efforts. Read More here
