The World’s Fastest Network

Sebastian Anthony reports on how a group of researchers in the U.S. and the Netherlands have broken the internet speed record with a cable that has the speed of 255 terabits per second. This speed is similar to the total sum of all traffic flowing across the internet at peak time. Read more about the story here.
Buried Treasure being Sold on ebay
“The seller does not represent that this item is operable; it was buried for 30 years. SOLD AS IS“
An item description for a un-used Atari cartridge game of E.T. The game is amongst a number of E.T cartridges selling on ebay with bids up towards $200. These cartridges are among a number for sale on ebay that were recovered from a dump near the city of city of Alamogordo, New Mexico. The cartridges were dumped there by Atari in 1983 after a crash in the video game market. There had been rumours that Atari did dump these cartridges but they were un-confirmed until a film company excavated the dump earlier this year as part of a documentary titled “Atari: Game Over”. WebSummit Features Some Testing

The Web Summit is on in Dublin this week. From starting four years ago with 400 attendees to now hosting a four day event with 22,000 people attending. It has possibly is one of the biggest annual tech conferences with talks and meet-ups to do with all areas of the web industry including software testing. Testing companies like Codacy, TestCloud and Usetrace featured at the Summit and all are working on making testing a fundamental part of app building. Read more here.
Seattle Testing Platform Start-Up Raises $8 million in Funding
“It allows software developers to quickly create virtual, cloud-based testing environments in the so-called software containers“
A recently started Seattle company; Shippable has announced that it has raised $8 million in funding recently. The company has developed a platform that removes the need for local virtual machines in the development environment and instead moves these to the cloud. The company also allow for continuous integration that automates a lot of the testing. Read more about the company here.
