On This Day: March 17th

The death of St. Patrick and Microsoft launch a new version of Office. All on today’s On This Day from TEST Huddle.

circa 461 A.D. – St. Patrick Diesst-patrick

Although no exect date (or year) has ever been settled upon, it is believed that 17th March was the day that the Christian missionary Patrick, a bishop died in Saul, Downpatrick, Ireland. Surprisingly Patrick has  never be officially canonised as a Saint by the church. Legend has it that he was responsible for driving all of the “snakes” (pagans) out of Ireland. The St. Patrick’s Day as we know it today was celebrated in 1756 at the Crown & Thistle Tavern in New York City with the first St Patrick’s Day parade taking place in 1762 in the same city.
