1965 – IBM launches the IBM 1130
The International Business Machines (IBM) Data Processing Division (DPD) introduces the IBM 1130 computing system with four different models (Models A1, A2, B1 and B2). The new system is IBM’s least-expensive computer to date, and so it will specifically be marketed to educational institutions. It is notable for being one of the first systems to be user friendly with an easy to use operating system and removable storage disks.
1992 – Line Mode Browser Version 1.1 Released
Written by Nicola Pellow, version 1.1 of the Line Mode Browser is released via FTP. Version 1.0 was written in 1990 at CERN by Tim Berners-Lee wrote the first browser; WorldWideWeb. As the first version only worked on NeXT Computers Berners-Lee recruited Pellow to write a browser so basic that it could run on any computer in existence at the time.
