The Quake Engine is released by John  Carmack and  Python 2.2 is released. All on today’s On This Day from TEST Huddle.

 

1999 – Quake Engine is releasedJohn_Carmack_working

John Carmack  of  id Software   releases the Quake engine source code on the Internet. He does so under the terms of the General Public License (GNU). The release will allow programmers to modify the engine. The Quake Engine will become the basis for a number of similar first-person shooters.

 

 

 

 

 

2001 – Python 2.2 is releasedPython 2.2

Python updates its main product with the release of version 2.2 of Python.
