On This Day – August 10th

The first email from space, Pinterest is made available to the public and a neurochip is built. All on today’s On This Day from TestHuddle.

 

1991 – The first e-mail from space

The first email from space was sent by astronauts aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis, mission STS-43, who use an Apple Macintosh Portable computer to send a message back to home.

 

 

 

2012 – Pinterest is launched

On this day in 2012, Pinterest changed its policy which meant that new users no longer required a request or an invitation to join the site. By this time its is estimated that Pinterest was the third most popular social network website in the United States. Pinterest had been in a beta stage since its launch in March 2010.

 

 

 2012 – A Neurochip is built

University of Calgary scientists announced they have successfully built a neurochip; a computer chip made out of silicon and human brain cells.  Commentators suggest that this organic computer could be a gateway for a human to “jack” into a computer like in the Matrix.
