1948 – Small-Scale Experimental Machine (SSEM) StartsThe University of Manchester's Small-Scale Experimental Machine

The world’s first programme stored computer, the Small-Scale Experimental Machine(SSEM) runs its first programme.  Nicknamed “Baby,” it was built at the University of Manchester and is based on ideas conceived by John von Neumann. In addition it is also the first computer to store data in RAM, as modern computers will.

 

 

 

 

1999 –  Apple Introduce the iBook Apple's Blueberry Ibook

At the MacWorld Conference, Apple Computer introduces the iBook notebook computer. The laptop features a 12.1-inch active matrix screen, a 300MHz PowerPC G3 processor with built-in CD-ROM and a 3.2-gigabyte hard drive along with a 56K modem. The computer retails at $1,599.
