This book offers direction and advice relevant to anyone involved in testing in a DevOps environment.

Decades of software testing experience condensed into the most important lessons learned. The world’s leading software testing experts lend you their wisdom and years of experience to help you avoid the most common mistakes in testing software.

3. How to Break Software by James Whittaker

This book is a departure from conventional testing in which testers prepare a written test plan and then use it as a script when testing the software. The testing techniques in this book are as flexible as conventional testing is rigid.

4. Agile Testing: A Practical Guide for Testers and Agile Teams by Lisa Crispin

In Agile Testing, Crispin and Gregory define agile testing and illustrate the tester’s role with examples from real agile teams. They teach you how to use the agile testing quadrants to identify what testing is needed, who should do it, and what tools might help.

5. Artifictional Intelligence: Against Humanity’s Surrender to Computers by Harry Collins

Recent startling successes in machine intelligence using a technique called ‘deep learning’ seem to blur the line between human and machine as never before. Are computers on the cusp of becoming so intelligent that they will render humans obsolete?

6. Explore It!: Reduce Risk and Increase Confidence with Exploratory Testing by Elisabeth Hendrickson

Uncover surprises, risks, and potentially serious bugs with exploratory testing. Rather than designing all tests in advance, explorers design and execute small, rapid experiments, using what they learned from the last little experiment to inform the next.

7. Bullshit Jobs: The Rise of Pointless Work, and What We Can Do About It by David Graeber

Be honest: if your job didn’t exist, would anybody miss it? Have you ever wondered why not? Up to 40% of us secretly believe our jobs probably aren’t necessary. In other words: they are bullshit jobs. This book shows why, and what we can do about it.

8. Juran’s Quality Essentials by Joseph Defeo

A practical, concise guide to improving business performance by properly applying quality management methods

9. The Drive-Thru is Not Always Faster by Mike Lyles

Life teaches every person a great deal of valuable lessons. While these lessons can be good or sometimes bad, we can find a way to learn from each of them. From the people we meet, to those we learn from or teach, there are many great stories to be told.

10. How to Lie with Statistics by Darrell Huff

This book introduces the reader to the niceties of samples (random or stratified random), averages (mean, median or modal), errors (probable, standard or unintentional), graphs, indexes and other tools of democratic persuasion.
