Zephyr Release Report on How the Industry is TestingImage result for zephyr testing

Zephyr have just released a survey of the software testing industry and how the industry is carrying out software testing. Among the interesting results was that while 70% of respondents from smaller companies follow agile only 30% deploy automated testing. Read More on the Software Testing Report here

 

NetGear Launches Bug Bounty ProgrammeImage result for netgear logo

This program encourages and rewards contributions by developers and security researchers who help make NETGEAR’s products more secure. Through this program NETGEAR provides monetary rewards or points for security vulnerabilities responsibly disclosed to us.

The maker of broadband routers has become the latest company to offer security testers the opportunity to earn a paycheck by finding relevant bugs. Recent reports on vulnerabilities with Netgear products has encouraged the company to launch its programme. The programme is aimed at  testing NETGEAR’s devices, mobile applications, and exposed APIs.  Potential rewards could range from $150 to $15,000 per bug identified. The Leap Second Bug Affects New Years Image result for new years eve

At peak approximately 0.2 percent of DNS queries to Cloudflare were affected and less than one percent of all HTTP requests to Cloudflare encountered an error

Cloudflare’s John Graham-Cumming explains the extent of the sites affected by a leap second bug on New Years Eve. The bug was caused as an extra second was added on to the Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) to ensure that the time remains in sync with the Earth’s irregular rotation as 2016 was a leap year. This extra second caused the company’s DNS proxy to switch to a negative value which affected a number of its customers. Read More here

 

Bitcoin Update Fixes Bug IssuesImage result for bitcoin

Similar releases often need a few rounds of testing (which each manifest in a new “release candidate”), but since no problems were reported since the first release candidate, the developer group packaged up and distributed it.

Alyssa Hertig reports on the latest update to the Bitcoin software. Bitcoin recently celebrated its 8th birthday with an update that fixes a number of bug and performance issues. The update was developed by a volantary group known as bitcoin Core who develop updates for the momentary software. Read More here
