Apple Testing MacOS Sierra

We ask that you use seeded software in your day-to-day activities, which is an environment that cannot be replicated at Apple.

Apple has released the the next operating system for the Mac to its employees for testing. Apple has asked employees to test the OS in everyday setting to find any bugs or problems with the OS. Read more here

 

The Cocktail Party Problem solved

The concept is to allow our computers to assist us by showing them what we see throughout the day

Researchers at Rice University  have developed software called RedEye, which is designed to see everything but only remember what it should. The software could be used for social situations including meeting people for the first time. Read More here

 

Slack’s API issues

“The thing about the Internet is there is no in-house load testing environment that is going to simulate exactly what happens on the Internet, so all of these companies have to learn the hard why that getting something to run reliably at scale on the Internet is hard work”

A comment by Greg Brail, chief architect at Apigee, an API-management platform on the issues Slack were having last week when the networking platform was having issues with with resulted in it avting slow to users. GBrail suggests that the scale of users might have been the issue. Read More here

 

 

Pentagon Expanding Bug Bounty Programme

Through this pilot we found a cost effective way to supplement and support what our dedicated people do every day to defend our systems and networks, and we’ve done it securely, and we’ve done it cost effectively

Defense Secretary Ash Carter explains how the success of the bug bounty programme has meant that the Pentagon is considering expanding the programme to other departments. The Pentagon ran a pilot programme to gauge take-up and success and very very pleased with the results. Read More here
