Twitter Blames Apple’s iOS 8 Bug For it’s slow growth

“We moved on multiple fronts to minimize its impact, but it wasn’t a one-size-fits-all fix” Chief Executive Officer of Twitter Dick Costolo highlights one of the ways the company tried to regain the fall in numbers for Twitter on iOS on iPhone’s and the Ipad. Apple’s new mobile operating system did not integrate properly with the Twitter software. Twitter has claimed that the bug in iOS 8 led to a loss of 4 million new users. Read More here.

 

Cigniti Technologies Forecasts the Software Testing Trends 2015

IBM’s Watson will be used in a Toy Dinosaur

A Kickstater campaign was started to create a dinosaur toy that will be based on the IBM Watson software. The IBM Watson has been used in numerous different projects by researchers but this is the first time the software will be applied to a children’s toy. Parents connect the toy to Watson via Wi-Fi, inputting a few details about their child including age, grade level, favourite colour, sport, or food. The makers suggest that the toy will then adapt to each individual child depending on their preferences. Read More here

 

Google Trolling Apple and Microsoft

“Those who fully disclose a vulnerability before a fix is broadly available are doing a disservice to millions of people and the systems they depend on”

Microsoft’s security research group director Chris Betz comments in a blog post on Google’s decision to release the details about a vulnerability in Windows 8.1 before Microsoft released the patch for the vulnerability. Many are unhappy with what they see as Google’s self-appointed role as the security police of the internet. Google’s security team “Project Zero” has been in existence since July 2014 and sees it role as examining security issues on the internet.
