1995 – Plans to license Java are announced
The Internet World Conference takes place in Boston on this day in 1995. At it companies Borland International Inc., Intuit Inc., Lotus Development Corp., Macromedia Inc., and Spyglass Inc. announce plans to license Java. Also Oracle announces its WebSystem, suite of Internet software which includes a Java-compatible browser.
2002 – European Union Fines Nintendo
Nintendo are fined by the The European Union for for colluding with game distributors to sell products at different prices in different parts of Europe. This is in violation of European Union treaties. The fine totals €168 million.
