1981 – Atari granted PatentsAtari-400

Atari is granted a patent for its 400/800 gaming computer system. (US No. 4,296,476). The 400 and 800 were each marketed as home computers with the Atari 400 being designed primarily as a computer for children, the Atari 400 has an “advanced child-proof design featuring pressure-sensitive, wipe-clean keyboard”. It has a single cartridge port under the front cover.  The Atari 800 was a more advanced version which was designed to look like a friendly typewriter. It also had expandable slot systems with two easily accessible cartridge ports.

 

 

 

 

2004 – Ubuntu Linux is releasedubuntu Linux

The first version of the free Ubuntu Linux operating system, based on the Debian GNU distribution, was released. Its name is the Zulu work for humanity. It was designed to provide a stable distribution suitable for the average computer user.
