2002 – IBM announce end to manufacture of desktop computers
International Business Machines (IBM) announces that it will no longer manufacture desktop computers in most world markets. The company would sell its PC division (including Thinkpads) to Chinese manufacturer Lenovo in 2005.
2007 – Asus announce the First external Graphics Card
The computer manufacturer Asus announces the first external graphics card, the XG Station. The new device is designed for laptop users who can perform graphically intensive work while not hindering the portability of the paltop machine. The graphics card features a GeForce 7900 GS chip, an LCD screen that displays the device’s status, and the ability to connect to computers via an ExpressCard slot.
