1989 – Friday the 13th Virus
Also known as the Jerusalem virus, the “Friday the 13th” virus effects computers running MS-DOS across the United Kingdom. This virus affects files with .com, .exe and .sys extensions. By reducing memory available on the computer, it causes the computer to slow down while every Friday the 13th, the virus is activated. The virus fails to cause the widespread damage that many expected as news of the virus had circulated for the previous six weeks.
1999 – AMD introduce new Processors
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) introduces the low-power K6-2 processors for notebooks. The new processors features 3DNow technology along with a 100MHz processor bus.
