1989 – Friday the 13th VirusFriday the 13th virus

Also known as the Jerusalem virus, the “Friday the 13th” virus effects computers running MS-DOS across the United Kingdom.  This virus affects files with .com, .exe and .sys extensions. By reducing memory available on the computer, it causes the computer to slow down while every Friday the 13th, the virus is activated.  The virus fails to cause the widespread damage that  many expected as news of the virus had  circulated for the previous six weeks.
