On This Day in Technology History: November 26th

On today’s On This Day from TEST Huddle; Microsoft is registered and the world’s largest satellite is launched….and goes missing.

 

 

1976 – Micro-soft is registeredMicrosoft logo

At the office of the Secretary of the State of New Mexico, the rade name Micro-soft is registered.  The name was first used by Bill Gates in a letter written to Paul Allen almost a year earlier on November 29, 1975. Since writing the letter, Gates has dropped out of Harvard to work on the company full-time.

 

 

2002 – The Worlds Largest Satellite goes into Orbit and Goes Missing Astra Satellitte 1kR

The world’s largest communications satellite, the Astra-1K satellite, is launched aboard a Russian Proton rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.  The satellite  is manufactured by France’s Alcatel Space corporation and built for the Societe Europeene des Satellites of Luxembourg. The satellite working life will not be long as it will go missing after it goes into the wrong orbit.
