GPS is made available for civilian use and version 4 of PHP language is released. All on today’s On This Day from TEST Huddle.

 

1993 – GPS becomes available for civilian use

In the United States, the Secretary of Defence William Perry announces that the Global Positioning System (GPS) will be made available for civilian use at Standard Positioning Service (SPS). The GPS system consists of of twenty-four satellites operating in their assigned orbits and provides coordinates accurate to within one hundred meters.

 

 

2001 – Version 4 of the PHP language is released

Version 4.1.0 of the PHP programming language is released.
