1967 – U.S. Department of Defence commission a study
What is to become the first computer network begins today with a letter from the United States Department of Defense to the Stanford Research Institute (SRI). The Department issues a contract worth $19,800 for the purpose of studying the “design and specification of a computer network.” This four-month study will result in the creation of the ARPANET.
2006 – BioPerl Version 1.5.2
The latest release; version 1.5.2 of the BioPerl programming language is released. The BioPerl programming language is a collection of Perl modules for the development of bioinformatics applications.
