Birth of Jason Shellen (founder of Blogger), Microsoft 95 is released and NEC announce plans for a 3-D laptop. All on today’s On This Day from TESTHuddle.

 

1973 – Jason Shellen is born

Jason Shellen

Founder of Blogger which he sold to Google in 2003, Jason Shellen was born on this day in 1973. Since selling blogger to Goggle, he went on to work for Google for a number of years developing Google Reader. After leaving Goggle he started Thing Labs in 2008 and created social tools Plinky, Brizzly, the Brizzly Guide, & Let’s Be Trends. In 2013, he developed Boxer, a new mobile application that hopes to change the way people interact with e-mail.

 

 

 

1995 – Microsoft Office 7.0microsoft-office-95

After the huge success of the launch of Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft releases version 7.0 of Microsoft Office as Microsoft Office 95. The new version included Microsoft Office 95 includes six applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint,  Access, Schedule+ (a time management app) and Binder (a program for binding the work of the mentioned apps together). The CD-ROM version also includes Microsoft Bookshelf.

 

 

2003 – A 3-D laptopNEC

Long before Avatar made 3D technology popular with the masses again, on this day in 2003 NEC announce plans to launch Laptop With 3-D Display in the following year. The design of the laptop includes a special liquid crystal display panel that is placed on top of a conventional screen. The idea is users would be able to view digital photos or play online games with the 3-D image display. NEC did release a 3D enabled laptop (model LaVie LL970/DS) but that was not released until 2011.
