1959 – IBM 7090 Mainframe
On this day in 1959, the very first two IBM 7090 Mainframe computers are delivered. One is delivered to NASA where it will be used for the Mercury and Gemini space missions. The units sell for $2.9 million and are capable of a processing speed of around 100 Kflop/s.
1999 – Business.com Sold
In 1999,in a reflection of the rising dot-com bubble, the website Business.com, a search engine, is sold for $7.5 million after it was purchased in 1997 for $150,000.
