1994 – Netscape release Navigator
In the U.S. Netscape announce the release of version 1.0 of Netscape Navigator. This establishes it as the first commercial web browser. Thanks to it’s strength of its resources, Netscape launch of Navigator will see quickly become the most popular internet browser worldwide.
1995 – Alta Vista Launched
Also in the U.S. and also a major day for the internet, the search engine AltaVista is launched by Louis Monier of Digital Equipment Corp. The search engine was developed by researchers at Digital Equipment Research Laboratories. The search engine will quickly become the most commonly used internet search engine due to its large index of sixteen million documents. On it’s first day, the search engine will receive over three hundred thousand users.
