On this day in 2001, Apple Computer opens the first two locations of the twenty-five retail stores it will open in the U.S. by the end of 2001. . The first store is located in McLean, Virginia while the other store is located in Washington, D.C. In the first weekend of trading, the stores will attract 7,700 shoppers, with a combined total of $599,000 worth of merchandise sold.
2008: Google Health
Google launches Google Health, a free service that allows users to manage their medical records online. The service would last for three years before being discontinued.
