Future Test Management

Paul Gerrard

Gerrard Consulting

When testing became a distinct activity in projects someone had to manage a test team, handle relationships with stakeholders, align testing to stakeholder needs and to communicate outcomes so stakeholders make better decisions.

Traditionally, the focus has been on defining and running a test process with copious documentation. With Agility, came uncertainty in the tester’s role and perhaps no role for a test manager at all. With DevOps and Continuous approaches, we need to redefine test management from scratch.

In this webinar, Paul describes contemporary management, identifies skills and suggests how we need to manage test in the future.

Key Takeaways:

  • Test Management as a role is changing dramatically – test managers need to adapt
  • Test activity needs management – the principles are the same, but the job changes
  • Reframed test management requires new perspectives, skills and aptitudes.
