On This Day in Technology History: February 4th

Some of the major technology and computer events that happened on this day in history. IBM offers a dressing down of its staff and Ford launch free computers for its staff.

 

 

1995 – IBM Dresses down its Staff

On this day in 1995, IBM announces that it will discontinue its requirement for a formal dress code for staff in favour of casual wear.

 

 

2000 – Ford Announces Free Pc’s for its staffford

The Ford Motor Company announces the it will give each of its 350,000 employees a free Hewlett-Packard (HP) computer and Internet access discounted to US$5 a month.  Ford Chairman William Clay Ford, Jr explains that “The Internet will be the equivalent of the moving assembly line of the 21st Century.”
