Bug Puts 37,000 Users Offline

We have had to go through pretty much modem-by-modem, and domain-by-domain and down to customer-by-customer to figure out what the issues were and to get them back up and running

The  Chief Operations Officer of Telstra Kate McKenzie explains how developers found the bug that caused up to 10% of its 370,000 customer base to have no internet access for up to for a number of hours with thousands still without internet up to a week later. The bug was caused by an update to domain name servers. Read More here

 

The new Cyber Criminal: The Bug Poacher

Bug poachers breach a company’s infrastructure, typically using a SQL injection aimed at a vulnerability in a company’s website. Once inside, they steal data, but here is where the twist comes in. Unlike typical black hatters, instead of selling the data, bug poachers extort their victims—telling the company they must pay to get information on how they were breached.

Chris Wysopal explains the modus operandi of the bug poacher; a new breed of criminal who instead of selling information that relates to a company vulnerabilities in its online presence uses that weakness to extort the company.  Read More here

 

Microsoft Testing Windows that Removes Bloatware

The Refresh Windows tool ostensibly will strip off ads that clutter the desktop and can hurt PC performance.

Microsoft is developing Refresh Windows for Windows 10 users. The news software will allow users to remove bloatware from their PC. The process could be done before but Microsoft have made the process easier for everyday users. Read More here

 

Automated testing tool  introduced for ServiceMax

As a result of a joint development effort, the first testing automation for ServiceMax, based on Provar’s tool and ForeFront’s testing know-how, is now a reality and was launched at Maximize

A press statement released by Forefront to announce the company’s release of their test automation tool. The tool offers functionality such as point and click test creation, pre-configured ServiceMax test cases and more. Read More here

 

Facebook Messenger Soccer Game

To celebrate the month that is in it, with the Euro 2016 and the Copa América on as well, Facebook has announced the existence of a football game in Feacebook Messanger. You have to perform certain tasks to get it but by all reports, it is addictive. Read More here
