Influence: Why tea can be a great test tool
Dan Ashby
I’m often asked the question “what is your favourite test tool?” to which I respond “tea”.
I’m often met with a blank face after my response…
You see, the power of tea is threefold:
• You make tea.
• You drink tea.
• You can offer/share tea.
Communication is a key skill for testers. And every tester has had their fair share of difficult project members that they need to work with, which makes communication very difficult at times. In this webinar, I will discuss the powers of “influence” and how this can be an important skill for a tester to possess. I will detail the various influence techniques, such as:
• The rule of Reciprocation
• The Rejection and Retreat technique
• Social Proof
• The Likeability factor, and
• The effects of “Commitment and Consistency”
Detailing my own experiences around difficult scenarios that I’ve had to overcome, I will also share some psychological research and evidence surrounding these influence techniques.
Key Takeaways:
- Influence skills,
- communication skills,
- overcoming difficult situations.
