2005 – Ebay acquire Skype Skype

EBay acquires Skype for $2.6 billion. eBay outbid Yahoo! and Google for the online phone service. The company planned to use Skype to allow eBay users to interact easily around auctions. However the plan did not workj out as expected and eBay ended up selling the company to Microsoft in 2011.

 

 

 

 

 2008 – The Internet is good for YouElderly Internet

Researchers at University of California (Los Angeles) announce the results of a study that finds internet use for adults aged 55 to 78, increased brain activity specifically in areas associated with decision making and complex reasoning. The study finds that the internet use engages a larger part of neural circuitry which is not activated during reading.
