World of WarcraftMMORPG’s being and a new version of the Java programming language is released.  All on today’s On This Day from TEST Huddle.

 

2004 – Beginning of MMORPG

On This day in 2004, at exactly 12:01 am Blizzard Entertainment launches the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) World of Warcraft in North America. Later that day the company will launch the game in Australia and New Zealand.  An extensive marketing campaign  precedes the launch of the game. World of Warcraft will become the largest MMORPG with over 7.4 million subscribers as of October 2014.  By July 2012, it will have grossed over $10 billion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

2004 – Java 2.0 is ReleasedJava Logo

The programming language created by James Gosling, Mike Sheridan, and Patrick Naughton initiated the Java language project in June 1991 is updated with a new version. Since its inception in 1991, the programming language has become a staple of client-server web applications and is the most popular programming language on the planet.
