The birth of the internet and nUbuntu is released. All on today’s On This Day from TEST Huddle.
1969 – The Birth of the Internet?
In the U.S., the first permanent ARPANET link is established between UCLA and SRI machines at Stanford. The machines are connected over a 50Kbps connection. This was not the first attempt to connect the machines. An earlier attempt failed when the SRI system crashed after typing the “L” and “O” of the login command. Many will regard this moment as the birth of the internet.
2006 – nUbuntu Released
TomB releases version 6.10 of the nUbuntu operating system is released. The newly released system is an Ubuntu distribution remastered as a LiveCD with the tools required to penetration-test servers and networks.
