1998 – The Poly-Poster Virus is first detected

On this day in 1998, the WM/Poly-Poster macro virus is first detected. The virus takes victim’s Microsoft Word documents and attempts to post them to public bulletin boards. The virus infects all Word documents in a PC. It then will spread with these documents on to new computers. The virus attempts to to send the documents multiple times and as it attempts to post all word documents, could potentially post sensitive material.
