An IBM Supercomputer is available to purchase, the internet is more popular than TV and Google launches Chromecast. All on today’s On This Day from TestHuddle.

2000 – A supercomputer becomes available to purchase

A commercial edition of the world’s most powerful supercomputer to date, the IBM designed ASCI White becomes available to purchase on this day on 2000. The computer is capable of handling up to 12.3 trillion calculations per second. At the time, its speed was approximately thirty thousand times faster than a standard home PC.

 

 

 2003 – The internet is more popular than TV

Yahoo! and Carat release a study that finds both teenagers and young adults are spending more time online than watching television.

 

 

2013 – Google launches Chromecast

Chromecast

A device that allows users to view Youtube, Netflix and other devices through the TV,the Google Chromecast  is a small HDMI based dongle that begins retailing at $35 in the United States.
