2005 – New World Record for Processing Speedibm Blue_gene

In the United States, the Department of Energy announces that its Blue Gene/L supercomputer (the world’s fastest) has achieved a processing speed of 135.5 trillion calculations a second. This beats the previous world record it set in November 2004 when the number of cabinets in its system was doubled to 32.

 

 

2007 – Launch of Playstation 3Playstation PS3

In Africa, Australia and New Zealand, Europe and the Middle East, Sony launch the PlayStation 3.  The new system does not include the Emotion Engine or Graphics Synthesizer which makes it less backward-compatible with previous PlayStation titles.  Th console is launched at a price of €599 in Europe) and £425 in the U.K.
